First we saw the robin with his red breast.
Then we watched the trees at the park move from bud, to blossom, to leaf.
The children are also growing. At the park and at snack time, we see friendships developing as children share games together. This is an ideal time to arrange playdates after school with the weather milder. In the hollow blocks area, cooperative work is happening. We witnessed the students' stamina and strength on our long walk up to 14th Street last week.
We have brought spring indoors. Miss Santos invited the children to paint the flowers blooming in our classroom. Each child looks closely and makes a choice as to how to represent the stem and flower of each plant.
We have also opened observational drawing. We see the children growing in their focus. They are increasing in their stamina to attend for longer periods of time and to persist when an activity is challenging.
Be sure to look at the drawings and paintings on display in the classroom.
Next week, when we walk to the bank to pay in our Lenten pennies, we'll stop in a different park and observe God's creation there.
