For the last week, the Rivers Class has been working in the drama area with hollow blocks. They have learned the names of the two types of blocks and also how they relate to one another in size. We spent time discussing how to safely carry and build with the blocks.
The hollow blocks can be used by the children to build a set where a story of their own imaging may take place. This encourages the children to collaborate and have a
conversation about what they would like to create. When they are done, the children then work together to unbuild their structure.
These Rivers students worked together to use the square hollow blocks to
fill in a larger square on the floor.
On other days, students built structures to play inside.
These students are learning to stack and then sail blocks
across the drama area to pull them away.
