Our days have been busy at school this week. Outside the children are noticing signs of spring. They have been watching the buds on the trees, wondering what they would become.
Many three-year-olds do not remember much detail about spring a year ago. This process is new to them in many ways.
What a delight to find that the buds had become flowers!
The flowering trees have been at the heart of the play in the park this week. Children have worked to reach branches, to touch and smell the flowers. They have gathered up the falling petals to use for pretend cooking, to offer as gifts, to bury in holes (wondering if maybe this will make something grow).
Inside we have responded to this beauty by adding drawings of the changing trees to our Community Book. Children have also been designing budding trees at the light table.
And we created centerpieces for our Holy Week celebration that showed our fascination with these flowering trees.
