On Wednesdays and Fridays, Mr. Licato meets us at the playground to work on gross motor and sports skills. We recently finished a soccer unit. Last week Mr. Licato brought new equipment to the park, a baseball bat and ball.
For many of the students, it was their first time attempting to hit a ball with a bat. Mr. Licato showed them the correct hand position and how to line up their bodies for the swing.
Each child hits the ball twice in their turn and then waits at the back of the line for another turn. We are practicing important social skills. We are learning how to follow the rules of the game by waiting for our turn. This takes patience and self-control.
Now the weather has improved, is your child trying new activities at the park ?
