An Expert Fisherman

Recently,  Kellan's dad spent the morning with us and, during our meeting time, he shared many facts about fishing.

First, Mr. McGovern showed his fishing rod and reel and line.

Then he showed many different kinds of lures, wooden ones, rubber ones, lures that look like fish and others that look like worms.  Some of the lures were really big and others had really big hooks.

The children wondered why the lures have eyes and Mr. McGovern explained that hungry fish look for eyes as they are hunting for something to eat.  He showed how special parts of the lures make the lure look like it is swimming just like real fish.

Mr. McGovern showed the children how to cast and also showed them some smaller, lighter flies used as lures for fly-fishing.  

We learned a great deal about fish and also about how to catch fish.  Thank you, Mr. McGovern!
