The Rivers Class students are vigorous. They are doers. They are kinesthetic and active. This is a group who learns best when they are busy exploring and drawing. They like to work standing up. Their hands are always busy and as they work and play you can see them cataloguing their new understandings.
And they never stop talking. Asking questions and sharing what they know. Children would finish eating each day but stay at the table to chat a little more. Telling stories and jokes and playing word games.
As a group, they like important work. Not little, superficial, or pretend. They want to do real things. Because they are big, as many like to remind us.
Individually, they are joyful, original, determined, helpful, enthusiastic, creative, a connector, strong, expressive, diligent, a builder, careful, imaginative, dramatic, a leader, and independent. Together they are friends and collaborators. They spent the year investing together the same questions and interests and flourishing in their learning.
