We might start with an active game, like musical chairs. The children are learning the process of moving in the right direction, stopping when the music stops and then finding a chair.
During our first several sessions, we don't remove any chairs and just enjoy moving together and helping each other find a place to sit down. Later we add a challenge of limiting the chairs and moving out of the game if all of the chairs are taken.
There are special Duplo blocks that we only get out on indoor park days. They are a special treat.
The children enjoy building structures and creating scenes. They practice the language for sharing the special and favorite pieces, how to ask for a turn and wait if the child isn't ready to share yet.
