This week the Rocks Class finally had the opportunity to play in the snow! Instead of playing on the playground, we walked right across to the nearest field in Church Square Park.
Teachers brought a collection of shovels and forks and the children took turns scooping snow with many different kinds of tools.

We even found a carrot at the park, but no other evidence of snowmen.
At the end of the morning we heard the many ways Peter plays in the snow in A Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats.
Thank you for sending your child to school wearing appropriate winter clothing. We are celebrating as more children become independent with their zippers and gloves. Everyone is encouraged to try to fasten their own coat before the teacher helps, especially those already or soon turning four.
We want the children to be independent in managing their clothing for several reasons. Learning how to zip, snap, and button strengthens their coordination and motor skills. When children can manage clothing on their own, they are more confident and have more time for other activities.
