The Rivers Class children were so excited for paint to open. Many had been asking since the classroom visits about using the easel and paintbrushes in our classroom. The children learned the first lesson of paint, which is to dip the tip, getting just enough paint on the tip of the paintbrush for a strong line. Each child created paintings of his or her own in response to the worship stories. We wonder what color we will use next in paint.
We already learned about collaboration this week as the children worked together to create one big collage to show God creating light. Most children have painted at home or made a picture somewhere by cutting and gluing. What is different for us at school is that at the end of the creating, we are are looking at the completed art and saying not "mine," but "ours." The children are learning to share many things, including their work.
As we work collaboratively, you won't find a lot new on the individual clipboards, But you will find a developing series of artwork that shows the story we have been hearing in worship on our classroom walls. That God made light. And God made sky and seas. Everyone has helped to make these. We hope you will stop in to enjoy our work.
