First Days

The Rivers Class has had a strong start.  The children are learning what it means to come to school and are enjoying both independence and new relationships.

Ms. Santos shows us how to make sure we do not lose the cap while we are drawing. 

The children have been trying things that can be very hard.  Using scissors properly is one.  It is sometimes difficult to remember where your fingers go and which way the scissors should point.

It is important to remember how to safely carry scissors and how to clean up after your work.  This part of school, trying difficult things, is very serious work.

Sharing meals and stories and songs are ways we learn about how to be together and about what kind of community this is.  

Learning how to be together in new ways, and how to do new things, and to do old things in new ways, these are the joys of the early days of school.
