Being Thankful

It is hard to believe that we are coming to the end of the first term. It has been such a full time in the Rivers Class.

One of the students' collaborative paintings became part of a Thanksgiving family gift that was sent home today. The painting the children made was cut into strips and used to decorate a candle that could be used at your family meal times or at your Thanksgiving table.

Every day we pause to say thank you to God for our snack. Thankfulness feels good. The children
named people whom they love and things for which they would like to thank God. The list grew into something quite lovely. Everything from moms and dads to monkeys and carrots. From the light table to rainbows to snakes.

We encourage you to take a few minutes in the next weeks to say out loud some of the things for which you are thankful. It is good for the children to hear those who surround them expressing thanks and the hope and calm that accompany that act.

As families featured heavily in our thankful lists, we drew a family picture on the gift bag.
It is a good time for us to say, as well, that we are thankful for all of you and for time spent learning with your children.

In case you would like to use it at home, our daily blessing before snack is:

For good food and those who prepare it,
For good friends with whom to share it,
We thank you Lord.
Amen.

See you back at school on Monday 26th November!
