The Discovery Table is a place for exploration and observation, a space where students enjoy working with a friend or discovering by themselves. So far this year, the Discovery Table has featured rocks and minerals of various types and sizes, many intriguing and beautiful treasures from nature, and now water.
Students discovered the rocks with a friend, and then continued individual
exploration and organization.
Soon treasures from nature appeared at the Discovery Table: leaves in many colors, sticks of various sizes and shapes, sticky burrs, crunchy seed pods, pieces of bark,

Students examined leaves, used bark and sticks to build small structures, gathered and counted the seeds from the seed pods we had found on our walking trip.
Now there is water at the Discovery Table! We follow the rules:
we push up our sleeves, and we don't touch the blue plug.
And we remember to always "Stay Low and Go Slow."
There is much enjoyment and laughter at the Discovery Table.

Two pitchers and two cups have been added to the Discovery Table!
Students practice pouring water with a friend: from the pitcher to the cup, or from
the cup to the pitcher.

Our sleeves are pushed up; we are staying low and going slow.
It takes a lot of concentration to pour water!
When students spend time discovering by themselves, they may try new techniques
for pouring water.
Or create waterfalls and water fountains.
Next week students will pour their own cups of water at snack time!
