Rivers Class students were surprised when Ms. Postema read a book about them this week: their very own Blocks Book. (Parents and students can find this book in the classroom library.)
Here are a few sneak previews from the book, beginning with the cover, which captures the students' delight in block learning:
The book documents the journey of the students' block learning:
The students remembered the first time they met the blocks.
The Blocks Book includes both photos and student reflections because shared memories are important to group learning.
Students recalled asking whether their structures were "Safe, Strong, and Beautiful," and doing the "finger test."
Students have built towers, enclosures, structures with several levels, different types of roofs, and they have included animals and people in their block construction.
Students have worked individually, with partners, and in small groups.
