Valentine's Day

At last, the moment we have been working toward... mailboxes are open!

Each child has a pocket mailbox with their first name and photo attached. 

Early this morning, valentine cards were already being posted into mail boxes.

During activity time, every child made a card for another person in the class. Thank you to our two volunteers for supervising this activity. 

Once the card was decorated, we needed a way for the receiver to know who the card was from. "We could write out name inside!" Each child wrote the letters they know from their first name inside their card.

After much practice learning how to turn lines and curves into letters, the children are so proud to finally begin to more easily draw a letter that has been impossible for them in the past.

Mailboxes will stay open as sending messages to each other will remain an activity for the rest of the year. Some children will grow interested in writing the names of other children on the messages and will learn to write new letters.
