This week we used name sticks to take attendance.
"Find your name stick and put it into the jar!"
"I found it!"
"It's tricky when both of our names start with an E and have a Z...
"All our name sticks are in the jar. We are all here!"
We also used name sticks to find where to sit at the table for snack.
In upcoming weeks, we will use name sticks to decide (randomly) who gets a turn and to know some letters in our name and in our friends' names when we make messages for friends.
Some questions you might consider:
Is your child able to recognize their name? The first letter in their name?
Does your child talk about their name stick?
Could you find a way to use name sticks (with the names of siblings, Mom, Dad, Grandma/pa) at home?
