Continuing on from Christmas and Epiphany, January's worship theme was Light in the Darkness.
During this theme, the Rivers Class heard bible stories about God's light and glory. We heard that when God's people escaped from slavery in Egypt, "The Lord went in front of them in a pillar of cloud by day, to lead them along the way, and in a pillar of fire by night, to give them light, so that they might travel by day and by night." Exodus 13:21.

Ms Buckley showed us a Christingle, a tradition from England, that helps us remember Jesus is the light of the world. John 8:12.
One morning in worship, Ms Sytsma turned off all the lights and swept the rug looking for her lost coin. The lost coin was much easier to find once she lit her oil lamp. Luke 15:8-10.

Finally, our prayer for the close of worship and at the end of each morning. We put our hands together, pointing upward like a flame and say,
