Today in drama, Ms. Knoester hosted a very fancy tea party. Everyone knows that the first thing to do when you are getting ready to come to the table is to wash your hands.
So each group followed Ms. Knoester into the restroom and learned about the proper way to wash hands at school. Sleeves up, one pump of soap, lots of rubbing and rinsing--this is not a step to be rushed! Finally, one paper towel is enough if you make sure to use each part of the towel well.
After this time of learning procedures, the children enjoyed setting a fancy table and pretending to have a tea party.
Ms. Knoester continued to reinforce school skills as the children played. Everyone must say, "Please pass..." and "Thank you!" We are learning so much about both taking care of ourselves and also about kindness and cooperation in a community.
