This week we had a new opportunity for singing as Mrs. Mauldin visited for our first music class. Mrs. Mauldin is the music teacher for children from The Nest up through 5th grade at Mustard Seed School. We learned that she likes singing so much that she even sings "Hello" and "Goodbye." Mrs. Mauldin visits the Rocks Class on Tuesdays and the Rivers Class on Wednesdays.
We move our bodies, adding actions to the songs, which helps us remember the words. We try singing the same song using different voices: loud and soft, fast and slow, high and low.
Mrs. Mauldin taught us a song about a mother duck and her 5 little ducks. One by one, the ducklings forget to come home when Mama Duck calls for them. She is very sad when no little ducks come waddling back. We make our faces match the way we feel.
But... when Mama Duck cries for her ducklings, they all come home!
Dr. Smith, who leads the singing in Nest worship on Mondays and Tuesdays, came and sang with us at the end of the morning as well. We practiced our new worship song, "My God is So Great." The Rocks Class is excellent at making the motions for great, strong, and mighty!
