Make an Original Family Memory Game

Make a Memory Game -- Wednesday, April  8

Hi, Rivers Class,
Do you remember having fun playing the Memory Game with

our Middle School intern, Josh (Sierra's cousin)?

Today you will make your own Original Family Memory Game.
Here is what you will need:
Step 1: Cut a piece of paper into smaller squares. (You can ask a grown up or an older sibling to help with this step, if you would like.)
One sheet of construction paper can usually make 12 good-sized squares.
These will be your Memory Game cards.

Step 2: Make your matching pairs.
You can use stickers or draw pictures.
You can make a shapes or numbers or letters.
Or draw designs.
Whatever you want to draw or create on your Memory Cards!

Just make sure that you always make TWO cards that are the same.
These will be your matching pairs.

Step 3: Play your game by yourself or with a partner.
Rules:
Flip a card over.
Flip another card over.
If you have a matching pair, keep the cards.
If you don't have a match, flip the cards over so that the pictures are hidden again.
Don't move the cards.
Use your MEMORY to remember where the pictures are!
Now it's your partner's turn. If you are playing by yourself, just take another turn.

Step 4: Put your game cards into a small plastic bag.
You can play your Memory Game another day.

Extension and challenge: You can make more games (an animal game, a bird game, a castle game, all letters, all shapes, people and family). You can also make more matching cards and add them to any of the games that you make so that you have more cards.

Remember to always make two cards that are the same!

Please share a photo of you and your family playing your Original Family Memory Game!
