Jumping!

Here are some jumping activities to get your child moving
and develop their gross motor skills even when indoors.

Jump over a Line
Lay down a line.
Jump forward over the line.
Challenge - jump backward over the line

Jump Forward
Place a starting point.
Jump forward as far as you can.
Mark or measure how far forward your chid jumps.
Can they beat their own mark?
Who can jump the furthest forward in your family?

Jumping on/off a Step
Find a step, small block, or low bench.
Jump off the step with both feet simultaneously.
Challenge - jump up onto a step (approximately 8 inches high) with two feet.

Hurdles
Set up a small hurdle (cardboard box).
Jump over the hurdle.
Challenge- set up an obstacle course or more hurdles around the room. Time the course.

We also have a rhyme that we jump to at school:
Jack be Nimble, Jack be Quick, Jack Jump Over the Candlestick.
Do you have a candlestick, or something that could stand in its place?
Here is a video of the rhyme.
